Oregon’s wine region delivers some of the best American wines in the country. From the Willamette Valley to the Oregon Coast, there are hundreds of wineries to discover. While the Willamette Valley is the center of Oregon’s wine industry, there are several wineries near and along the coast that are perfect for a day trip during your stay in Depoe Bay. Start tasting your way through these wineries of the Oregon Coast.

Flying Dutchman Winery

Located along the Otter Crest Scenic Drive, the Flying Dutchman Winery not only pours excellent wines, but it has one of the best views of the Oregon Coast. Perched high above the coastline, the boutique winery provides an intimate tasting room and a spacious outdoor patio with stunning views. Produced in small batches, their award-winning wines consist of a nice blend of reds, whites, and even two dessert wines. Bonus: the winery sits next to the popular natural formation, Devil’s Punchbowl.

When staying at the Whale Cove Inn, this excursion makes for the perfect day trip from Depoe Bay.

Nehalem Bay Winery

Established in 1974, the Nehalem Bay Winery was built in the old Mohler Creamery, where they now produce award-winning varietals. Nestled between the Nehalem Bay and where the Neahkahnie Mountain meets the ocean, enjoy stunning views of the local landscape and local dairy farm.

Depoe Bay Winery

Located in the heart of town, the Depoe Bay Winery produces renowned Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris with grapes from the Willamette Valley. As the second location for the Nehalem Bay Winery, the local winery not only serves up delicious wines, but they also boast the wine cave, where visitors can sip and soak up the beautiful coastal sunsets from Depoe Bay.

Winery at Manzanita

The Winery at Manzanita is a cozy winery located in the town of Manzanita that pours small batches of whites, reds, and fruit wines. More than just wine, the winery serves up coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches in the morning, plus salads and sandwiches in the afternoons and evenings. Grab a glass of wine, a s’mores making kit, and relax out front by the fire pit for an unforgettable evening along the coast.

Shallon Winery

If you make it up north to Astoria, be sure to stop in at the Shallon Winery. This winery made a name for itself for creating the first and only whey wines. And if you love chocolate as well, be sure to try their famous chocolate orange wine.
