Get out and explore the local trails of Depoe Bay this summer or take a short drive to explore the regional hiking trails and beaches of the Oregon Coast. We’ve outlined some of our favorite scenic walks in the area – assuming you can tear yourself away from your luxurious suite and Jacuzzi to explore them!
City Park, in Depoe Bay, offers a delightful opportunity to get lost in nature on this meandering trail in town. There is a section with a steeper incline but this walk is relatively easy and has a peaceful ambiance. You could also take shorter, seaside strolls in Scenic Park and Whale Park.
Graham Street Scenic Lookout Trail
This local trail in Depoe Bay winds through some trees and greenery before showing you a wonderful ocean view at the trail’s end.
Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint
Named for the ship that sunk here in 1910 and the boiler from it you can still see during a low tide, this Oregon State Park is well-known for whale watching opportunities and you can enjoy a short little walk along the rugged terrain.
Fogarty Creek State Recreation Area
At Fogarty Creek, you’ll find beach access, fishing, and hiking trails leading into forests and across footbridges. None of the trails in this area are difficult and you’ll often find locals and visitors exploring the beach or watching where the creek meets the ocean.
Cape Perpetua Scenic Area
Down the coast, near Yachats, is the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area and trailhead. The trailhead is next to the Visitor Center and provides access to multiple trails, including: Whispering Spruce Trail, Cape Cove Trail, Discovery Loop Trail, Giant Spruce Trail, and the Oregon Coast Trail. This area is your best bet if you’re looking for more options for walks and something a little more rugged than a walk through one of our city parks.
Go on an easy 1-mile hike near an amazing natural formation, the Devil’s Punchbowl, or trek down to Beverly Beach for access to a longer trail.
We hope you find some time on your intimate getaway to get out and explore the beauty of Depoe Bay on a walk! But of course your getaway along the Oregon Coast starts by finding the perfect suite for your stay!
